Our Committee Structure
Our committees organize the work of GCNTB and empower members to actively participate in shaping our programs, events, and community initiatives. Each committee plays a vital role in helping us preserve culture, serve our community, support our programs, and strengthen our organization.

Finance Committee *
Chaired by Treasurer Coleen Reid

The  Finance Committee ensures GCNTB’s financial stability by developing and providing oversight into its budget, fiscal procedures, financial plan, and annual budget with the Board’s input.

 

This committee is composed of the Treasurer and at minimum four additional members.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

​

  • Developing and reviewing the annual operating budget

  • Monitoring financial reports and expenditures

  • Supporting fundraising strategies and financial sustainability efforts

  • Ensuring transparency and accountability of financial records

  • Reviewing financial planning related to programs and initiatives

Committee Meetings

Committee meetings are held twice per month. Meeting dates and times are available on the GCNTB calendar.

Programming & Community Engagement Committee*

Programming & Community Engagement Committee

The Programming & Community Engagement Committee supports GCNTB’s mission by developing initiatives and engagement opportunities that strengthen member involvement, celebrate Guyanese culture, and expand the organization’s connections within the broader community.

Governance & Compliance Committee *
Chaired by GCNTB Secretary Renee Braithwaite 

The Governance & Compliance committee supports the Board of Directors in maintaining strong governance practices, policy oversight, and organizational accountability.

 

This committee helps ensure that the organization operates in accordance with its bylaws, nonprofit best practices, and applicable regulations while identifying potential risks that may affect the organization’s operations or reputation.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

​

  • Supporting the development and review of organizational policies and procedures

  • Monitoring governance practices to ensure alignment with the organization’s bylaws

  • Identifying potential operational, financial, or reputational risks

  • Recommending risk mitigation strategies to the Board of Directors

  • Supporting policy documentation and organizational recordkeeping practices

  • Advising the Board on governance best practices and compliance considerations
